Sathish, Bavithra, Aarthi sparkle

Madurai: Sathish of SDAT, Salem, in boys’ group I, M.S. Bavithra of SDAT, Madurai, in girls’ group I and M. Aarthi of SDAT, Salem, in group IV won three golds each in the State-level swimming meet organised by Madurai District Swimming Children Welfare Association, in Madurai on Sunday. Four-year-old Sreeman (SDAT, Madurai) won a special award.

SBU to meet SRM

Virudhunagar: Sathya Bama University and SRM University, both from Chennai, will clash for the title in the 14th annual Lysander memorial Trophy State-level inter-collegiate basketball tournament at Virudhunagar.

The teams registered their second wins in the four-team round robin league.

The results: Colleges league: SRM University 76 (Prem Sharma 18, Siva 12) bt Madras Christian College 39 (Praveen 12); Sathya Bama University 76 (George 20, Vinoth 19) bt Kamaraj Engg. College 43 (Sunil 10, Vigneshswaran 15).

Rajesh shines

D. Rajesh Kumar’s 88 and his 160-run sixth-wicket partnership with P. Rajamohan (78) helped Sam Babu XI register a 37-run victory over Mansur Youngsters CC in the Canara Bank-DDCA first division league at Dindigul on Sunday.

The scores: Sam Babu XI 240 for eight in 47 overs (P. Rajamohan 78, D. Rajesh Kumar 88, A.R. Manikandan four for 35) bt Mansur Youngsters CC 203 in 43.4 overs (K. Uthravel 58).
