Special kutba prayers were offered People from other religions greet Muslims TIRUCHI: Id-ul-Fitr, the festival of charity, was celebrated with gaiety in Tiruchi, Pudukottai and Perambalur districts on Sunday. The day marks the end of the holy month of Ramzan when Muslims observe fast. It was celebrated as a day of forgiveness, fellowship, thanksgiving and moral victory. Special kutba prayers were offered at Idgahs and mosques in Tiruchi city and other parts of the district. Muslims offered prayers at the Idgah at the Cantonment here. Rampur Maulana Mohammad Rashid from Uttar Pradesh led the congregation. Prayers were also offered at the Palakkarai Panch Minar mosque, Khanmiyan mosque, N.M. mosque, Hazarath Thable Alam Badhusha Dargah mosque, Mohammad Jamiya mosque at Chowk, Hasan Bagh mosque on NSB Road and Jamal Mohammed College mosque. Government Town ‘qazi’ Moulvi Jaleel Sultan Manbayee participated in the prayers at Ghulam Ali Khan mosque. Earlier, Muslims distributed ‘fitra’ (alms) to the poor to enable them to celebrate the festival. Special ‘dua’ was offered at all places for world peace, national integration and communal harmony. They also invoked the blessings of the Almighty for ushering in peace, prosperity and happiness to all. People from other religions greeted their Muslim brethren. PudukottaiSpecial prayers were held at all 13 mosques in the town where they offered assistance to the poor. They offered prayers at the Jumma Masjid Noor mosque, the Nizami mosque and the Al-Aksa mosque. A large congregation, led by A.R. Noor Mohammed of the District Baithul Committee, offered prayers at the Arabic College grounds. Muslims also offered prayers at the mosques in Tirukkokarnam, Adappanvayal and Kattu Bava mosque near Tirumayam. PerambalurA large number of Muslims participated in the prayers at the Moulana Matharasa mosque and Imam mosque. Special congregations were held at the Thuraimangalam mosque, Labbaikudikadu. They also offered prayers at the Noor mosque and Mecca mosque. A large gathering assembled at the Syed Musthafa Aulia mosque in T. Kalathur, Jamia Masjid and Milleth Nagar mosque both in V.
