Small screen’s ‘Mr. Dependable’

Vinod Bala

In more than a decade-and-a-half since it truly came into being, the Telugu television industry had thousands of faces appearing on the small screen.

Some were never seen again and were lost without further trace, some survived the rough and tumble for a couple of years and some were relegated to sidelines where they stayed on. But very few remained active and improved with each appearance.

One such figure on Telugu channels is Vinod Bala.

And in a career that took-off almost coinciding with the inception of multi-channel era in the language, Vinod gained with every performance and came to be regarded as industry’s ‘Mr. Dependable’.

From Doordarshan to Gemini to Maa, the actor adapted his early experiences with theatre for the small screen to emerge as one acknowledged for fine emoting prowess.

For him, no role is small and believes in capitalising on every opportunity that comes his way.

In recent times, Vinod excelled with opportunities that he got from Maa TV in the form of ‘Maa Theerupu’ and talk is that he is going to be part of a daily serial on the same channel. Just wait for more excellence on the small screen.

TV5

The latest Telugu news channel, TV5 appears to have recovered quickly from early glitches that stared it in the face on the day of launch, to improve its showing.

Even the networks seem to be almost perfectly in place and the complaints on non-receipt of the signal, as is happening with another recently launched channel NTV, are minimal. The content too has been without any major complaints so far.

Working on concepts

However, finding a niche in an already crowded scenario is not going to be an easy task and the channel claims to be working on concepts and projects that would help it stand apart.
