EC orders transfer of Gujarat DGP

New Delhi: The Election Commission on Monday ordered the shifting of Gujarat’s six senior police officers and two District Collectors. They held key positions during the post-Godhra riots of 2002.

They are: P.C. Pandey, Director-General of Police; J. Mahapatra, Commissioner of Police, Ahmedabad; I.M. Desai, Deputy Inspector-General, Border Range; J.N. Rajgor, Superintendent of Police, Patan district; N.D. Solanki, Superintendent of Police, Rajkot district; S.K. Gadhavi, Superintendent of Police, Tapi district; D.H. Brahmbhatt, Valsad District Collector, and Sonal Mishra, Gandhinagar District Collector. The action follows an on-the-spot assessment by Chief Election Commissioner N. Gopalaswami and Commissioners Navin Chawla and S.Y. Quareshi last week.
