Big win for Guntur

VIJAYAWADA: Guntur registered an innings 216-run victory over Prakasam in the ACA Central Zone u-17 inter-district cricket tournament at Guntur on Tuesday. Krishna-West Godavari match ended in a draw.

The scores: Guntur 380 for nine decl in 77.4 overs bt Prakasam 75 in 40 overs (Surendra Singh 42, B. Sudhakar five for eight) & 89 in 37 overs (Sasikiran five for 25).

Krishna 312 for six for decl. in 84 overs (K. Harish 122, P. Pavan Sai 58, Sandeep Teja 50) drew with West Godavari 110 in 36 overs (M. Durga Prasad 46) & 15 for two in five overs.

Defending champions Hyderabad outplayed Kurnool 63-41 in the women’s final of the 33rd AP senior State inter-district basketball championship at Ramachandhrapuram (East Godavari) on Tuesday, according to information received here.

V.R. Siddhartha Engineering College scored a 94-run victory over Machilipatnam’s Noble College in the Acharya Nagarjuna University East Zone inter-collegiate cricket tournament here on Tuesday. Jyothi Sai Krishna’s 64 for VRS EC was the highlight of the day.

The scores: VRS Engineering College 193 for sux in 30 overs (N. Jyothi Sai Krishna 64, K. Nageswara Rao 44) bt Noble College 99 for eight in 30 overs.

SRR & CVR College defeated Sathavahana 26-16 in the men’s final, while Montessori Mahila Kalasala outplayed Sathavahana College 19-9 in the women’s title round of the Acharya Nagarjuna University inter-collegiate netball championship, which concluded at SRR & CVR College grounds here on Tuesday.
