Four new meet records

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Four meet records were set on the opening day of the State school aquatics meet at the Water Works swimming pool here on Tuesday.

Swimmers from Thiruvananthapuram and Centralised Sports Hostel, Naniyode, hogged the limelight on the first day that saw CSH trainees set three new records. H.S. Priyanka of Thiruvananthapuram set the lone record in the general schools category in senior girls 200m butterfly race.

R. Sarvyan of CSH, Naniyode broke a 10-year-old in sub-junior boys 200m breaststroke event. Sarvyan clocked 2:54.45s to lower R.J.Vineesk’s (2:56.86) set in 1998.

The other records were set by R. Rajeev (CSH, Naniyode) in senior boys 200m breast stroke and by S.S. Visakh (CSH, Naniyode) in senior boys 400m freestyle events respectively. Thiruvananthapuram was leading the points table with 155 points at the end of competition on the first day.
