Krishnan in lead

CHENNAI: Ram. S. Krishnan, with six points, was in lead at the end of the sixth round in the Maharaja Agrasen FIDE rated open chess tournament here on Tuesday.

In the sixth round, Krishnan beat G.B. Prakash, who remained on 4.5 points.

SRM triumphs

SRM University chalked out a straight-game win over Sathyabama University in the final of the volleyball event in the second Shri Ishari Velan Memorial Trophy inter-collegiate tournaments. SRM won 25-21, 25-12, 25-21.

Han wins title

S.H. Han (9) and R. Vijayaraghavan (17) triumphed in the Gandhi Nagar Club Trophy tournament held at the Cosmo-TNGF golf course here recently.

Han, with a score of 40, clinched the Division I title, while Vijayaraghavan, with a score of 38, claimed the Division II title.

Rupa Gurunath (8) and V.C. Krishnan (17) finished second in Division I and Division II respectively.

Masters athletics

Pranit prevails

Pranit (TNBSA) lifted the junior billiards title in the Abirami Mega Mall-Tamil Nadu Billiards and Snooker Association State-ranking tournament in Chennai. In the final, played on a two-hour format, Pranit defeated Dilipkumar, also of TNBSA, 531-404.

Inter-school cricket

Sixteen of Chennai’s leading schools will compete in the Don Bosco-MRF Trophy cricket tournament from October 22 to November 5. All matches of the tournament, featuring the under-11 and the under-13 categories, will be played at the Don Bosco School.
