BANGALORE: An armed gang hacked to death a carpenter in front of his house in Devarajeevanahalli even as his wife and children watched in horror, on Tuesday. The police gave his name as Allah Baksh (25), a resident of Shivaraj Road and younger brother of history-sheeter Ajju. The police said that Allah Baksh had taken a loan from a fellow carpenter Zakir and his associate. As he had not repaid the loan, a group of 10 persons led by Zakir came to his house around 12.30 p.m. and attacked him with swords and choppers . Engineer ends lifeRamesh Kumar (30), an engineer with a private firm, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his house in Vidhana Soudha Layout in Rajagopalanagar police station limits on Monday night. The police said Ramesh was alone at his house as his wife had gone to her mother’s house for delivery. Robbed of valuablesOn the pretext of giving a lift, armed men robbed a software engineer on Hosur Road in the early hours of Tuesday. The police said that around 4.30 a.m., software engineer Ramkumar had arrived here from Salem in a bus and alighted at the Central Silk Board Junction on Hosur Road. While he was waiting for an autorickshaw to reach his house in Marathalli, a few men offered him a lift. Later, the MUV driver and his accomplices threatened Mr. Ramkumar with a knife and robbed him of Rs. 350 in cash, credit cards, a gold chain, a ring and a mobile phone. BurgledA mobile phone showroom in Bandeppa Colony in Yeshwanthapur was broke open on Monday night and several cellphones taken away. In another incident, burglars looted Rs. 1 lakh in cash and gold jewellery worth Rs. 1 lakh from Mujeebullah’s house in K.R. Puram police station limits. Deer skin seizedThe Hanumanthanagar police on Tuesday arrested Subash (32) of Mundgod in Uttara Kannada district and seized a piece of deer skin from him.
