Disabled persons get benefits under various Government schemes

1,156 participate in the special camp conducted at Aruppukottai

ARUPPUKOTTAI: Out of the total 1,156 disabled persons who participated in the special camp conducted here for physically challenged people, 910 persons were given benefits under various Government schemes. Efforts were on to fulfil the requirements of another 245 persons.

Collector V. Chandrasekaran distributed Rs.1.79 lakh worth benefits to 51 persons during the two-day camp that concluded on Wednesday.

A statement said that 472 disabled persons were issued identity cards and 25 persons got monthly maintenance allowance. Hearing-aids were given to 8 persons and income certificates to 183 persons.

Bank loans

The District Industries Centre had recommended 23 persons for availing themselves of bank loans.

Petitions seeking house site pattas, group houses and assistance for unemployed youths would be processed soon, the statement said.

Similar camps would be conducted at Kariyapatti and Sattur panchayat unions next month.
