TDP misleading ryots, says CLP

‘Creating false impression about the quality of work in ongoing irrigation project’

HYDERABAD: The Congress Legislature Party on Thursday charged the Telugu Desam Party with trying to mislead the farmers by creating a false impression about the quality of work in ongoing irrigation projects.

The CLP secretaries E. Pratap Reddy and S. Gangaram in a statement issued here accused the TDP leaders of showing new found love for the farmers.

They said that the TDP was worried at the pace of work on the irrigation front and feared that its existence would be at stake if the irrigation projects were completed.

Their intention was to create a gap between the Government and the farmers and to stall the ongoing work, they alleged.

They ridiculed the TDP demand that the Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah should tender his resignation after owning moral responsibility for the poor quality of works.

They pointed out that when some of the irrigation projects constructed during the TDP rule were washed away or breached, no Minister had resigned.
