Science exhibition gives students a chance to display their skills

TIRUCHI: A 300 gm working aircraft model and other exhibits were on display at the inter-school third science exhibition at Oxford Engineering College on Thursday.

Over 3,160 students from 30 schools, including E.R. Higher Secondary School, Bharathi Matriculation HSS, St. Joseph’s Anglo-Indian HSS, Holy Cross Girls HSS, Seva Sangam HSS, St. Joseph’s HSS, Bishop Heber Higher Secondary Schools-Puthur and Teppakulam, Sivananda Balalaya, St. John’s Vestry Anglo-Indian HSS and Alpha Plus Matriculation School, took part in the event.

The exhibition provided a platform for the students to exhibit their skills in subjects including mathematics, physics, environmental science, chemistry and computer science. Models on fly-over, reverse osmosis plant, hydrogen fuel cell, pollution control methods and impact of global warming were on display.

Distributing prizes to the students, the former vice-principal of St. Joseph’s College, G. Balakrishnan, urged the students to develop a scientific temper and change the challenges into opportunities.

Bharathi Matriculation Higher Secondary School notched the overall-shield, followed by Holy Cross Higher Secondary School.

Event

In Mathematics, the host college topped the event and in physics, it was E. R. Higher Secondary School. Alpha Plus Matriculation School came first in Environmental Science category.

Chief Educational Officer R. Muthukrishnan inaugurated the exhibition on Wednesday. College chairman M. Subramaniam presided over the event.

Principal V.K. Pande offered felicitations.
