Ryots take out rally for better support price

Kakinada: Hundreds of farmers took part in the marathon rally that was taken out from Sakhinetipalli in Konaseema to the district headquarters here on Monday. Holding placards, banners and raising slogans, the farmers sought hike in support price for paddy to Rs.1,000 per quintal on the lines of wheat.

Farmers used over 500 motorcycles, dozens of cars and tractors for the rally. State Kisan Sangh secretaries -- Jalagam Kumara Swamy and Yallapu Suryanarayana -- president Suresh Reddy, BJP leader Y. Malakondaiah, Balaram Sena State president Jamir led the rally.

Massive dharna

The rally culminated into a massive dharna in front of the Collectorate.

The agitators called on the Collector in a delegation and presented him a memorandum with their charter of demands.
