VIRUDHUNAGAR: Minister for Backward Classes Welfare K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran distributed assistance to tune of Rs. 2.65 lakh to 476 unemployed youths at Srivilliputtur on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the assistance was meant to inspire and encourage the unemployed youth. He said that the State Government had been filling hundreds of vacancies in government departments transparently. Besides, it was creating a special economic zone at Sattur to provide job opportunities to the educated masses of the district. Collector V. Chandrasekaran said that 210 youths who had passed 10th standard were being given Rs.150 as monthly assistance, which would come in handy for buying applications seeking employment. The assistance for those who had passed 12th class and graduates was Rs. 200 and Rs. 300 respectively. So far, 10,147 unemployed persons had benefited under the government’s scheme.
