HYDERABAD: The Indian Journalists’ Union (IJU) on Saturday condemned the ban on the telecast of TV news channels in Gujarat after they telecast the ‘Tehalka’ expose on the 2002 post-Godra riots.K. Sreenivas Reddy, IJU secretary-general, in a statement issued here, criticised the filing of an FIR against the Ahmedabad reporter of ‘Aaj Tak’ channel. He said the IJU considered the ban as a frontal attack on the freedom of expression. “It is not acceptable,” Mr. Reddy asserted, adding that the ban should immediately be lifted. “We urge the government of India to immediately intervene to set right things in Gujarat.” © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
