Southern Railway ‘B’ to meet Madras Blues

CHENNAI: Southern Railway ‘B’ will meet Madras Blues in the final of the CHA first division at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium on Sunday.

In the two semifinals held on Saturday, Madras Blues defeated ABM Infotech 4-3 via the tie-breaker after being goalless in the regulation time, while Southern Railway ‘B’ trounced Wesley HC 3-0.

The results: semifinals: Madras Blues 4 (Antoney, Sunil, Kathiravan, Balaji) bt ABM Infotech 3 (Mani, Sudarsan, Alagu) (via tie-breaker); Southern Railway ‘B’ 3 (Vasanth, Balamurugan, Praveen) bt Wesley HC 0.

Venkatesh bowls well

R. Venkatesh (seven for 70) starred in SICAL’s 29-run win over SPIC in a second division match of the TNCA cricket league here recently.

In another second division match, Dhandapani’s century enabled TI Cycles beat UFCC (T. Nagar) by 59 runs.

Rain plays spoilsport

No play was possible on the first day of the three-day cricket match between City and Combined Districts here at the RKM Vivekananda ground.

Overnight showers and intermittent rain on Saturday morning left the ground water-logged, forcing the umpires to abandon the day’s play.

TNCA ties postponed

All TNCA league matches scheduled for Sunday, October 28, have been postponed because of inclement weather and poor ground conditions.

TNCA under-13 city school cricket matches to be played in Chennai on Monday too have been postponed.

Easwar posts win

Easwar (TNBSA) defeated Leninwala (Tirupur) 57-8, 52-13, 56-40 in a snooker contest of the Abirami Mega Mall State-ranking tournament at the TNBSA premises here on Saturday.
