5,000 students take part in Talentia-07

SWEET VICTORY: Students of St. James Matriculation School with Talentia Rolling Trophy at the National Institute of Technology - Tiruchi.

TIRUCHI: The finals of ‘Talentia-07’, an inter-school competition conducted annually by the Wisdom Club of National Institute of Technology – Tiruchi (NIT-T), witnessed an overwhelming participation by schools in and around Tiruchi and Thanjavur districts.

For students from standard VI to XII, it was a welcome platform for showcasing their talents in essay writing, elocution, creative writing, thirukkural writing, drawing, quiz, sudoku and crossword.

The finals of sudoku and quiz events (general and maths) were held in the Octagon computer centre of the Institute. “Every year, we see a growing response to the event and an increase in the skill set of students,” observed A. R. Srivathsan, club president. “One of our main objectives this year is to motivate more students from Tiruchi to take up AIEEE and other competitive exams. We had patterned the maths quiz event accordingly,” he said.

Talentia’07 enjoyed an unprecedented response this year with the participation of more than 5,000 boys and girls. According to organisers, the money collected was utilised to help the underprivileged studentswhich is not only the motto of the Club but also a passion for each of its members.

The prizes and certificates were given away by N. Sulochana, Head, Department of Chemistry, NIT-T, and Yuh Shan Ho, a visiting professor from Taiwan, and the Club’s Staff Advisor, Michael Arock.

St. James Matriculation Hr. Sec School, Trichy, won the overall championship and bagged the prestigious Talentia Rolling Trophy for the third consecutive year. Sri Akilandeshwari Vidyalaya, Trichy, finished runners up.
