Hartal hits fisheries sector

KASARAGOD: The hartal called by the Coastal Area Protection Committee in protest against fixing a time limit for registering the mechanised country boats used for fishing affected fishing activities in the district on Sunday. The fishermen boycotted registration activities. The hartal affected vehicular traffic in the coastal area. Majority of the shops and business establishments in the area remained closed. The fishermen took out a march to the district office of the Matsyafed to press their demands.
