BANGALORE: Maharashtra Governor S.M. Krishna has described as “utterly false”allegations that he was “playing a direct role in party politics.” The charges appeared in a section of the press here on October 29. In a statement issued by his office in Mumbai, Mr. Krishna said: “The allegation that I came to Bangalore to indulge in party politics is malicious and utterly false. My visit to Karnataka from October 27-30 was decided well in advance. “The purpose of the visit was to fulfil my commitments to two social organisations that had invited me for their programmes. The visit had been approved by the President. “I have scrupulously avoided meeting any politician or party leaders. It is ridiculous of persons whose own credentials are suspect to give me lessons in ethics.” © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
