Monsoon woes unabated

Frequent water pipeline breaks, power outages and bad roads have made life difficult for the public this monsoon.

On Wednesday night, a water main ruptured at Murinjapalam, effectively cutting off drinking water supply to a significant section of the population in the adjoining areas.

The Kerala Water Authority had to dig up the road to repair the line. It would take several more days to restore the road to the original condition. Power outages, caused by snapped lines and falling trees, have also been high this season. Power surges caused by lightning strikes have resulted in damage to electronic equipment.
