MEG keeps winning

BANGALORE: Reigning champion Madras Engineering Group (MEG) maintained its unbeaten run with a solitary goal win over Oriental FC, in the Super Division football league at the football stadium here on Friday. The league resumed on Friday after three days due to water-logging.

Elavarasan, manning the Oriental citadel, was in superb form effecting some brilliant saves and even stopped a ‘penalty’ taken by MEG’s Lokeshwar Singh. But in the 31st minute, he was well and truly beaten by Nigilraj, who notched up the lone goal for the Sappers.

MEG, with this win, has 23 points from nine matches (seven wins and two draw) while Oriental has just six points from two wins in as many matches.

Ramesh scored for BUFC in the 54th minute while Srikanth restored parity for the Railwaymen in the 87th minute. BUFC has five points from six matches while S.W. Rly has tallied 10 points from eight outings.
