Delhi govt. told to take action against schools

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Friday directed the Delhi Government to take action against unaided public schools in the city that started the admission process for pre-primary classes despite knowing that the matter was sub-judice.

A Division Bench of the Court comprising Justices M. K. Sharma and Sanjiv Khanna issued the direction on an application by advocate Ashok Aggarwal accusing Rukmini Public School and Jindal Public at Rohini of committing contempt of court by initiating the admission process when the matter was pending before it for fixing modalities for admission to the two classes. Mr. Aggarwal said that the two schools’ actions were also in violation of the Ashok Kumar Ganguly Committee Report on the modalities for admissions. It had recommended December 1 as the date for all unaided public schools to begin admissions

He submitted that several other schools had also started the admission process for these classes.The Bench also issued notices, returnable on November 7, to the Government and the two schools.
