’A new power project to be launched each year’

‘Works in rural and urban areas going at a good pace’

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Saturday that his regime is committed to resolving the problem of unemployment by providing sufficient job opportunities to the youth.

Addressing representatives of local bodies and a large number of entrepreneurs who had come from all over Haryana to his residence in New Delhi to thank him for the decision to waive off house tax in the State’s urban areas and chulha tax in rural areas, Mr. Hooda said his main agenda was to transform Haryana into the country’s number one State in all spheres.

Asserting that continuous efforts were on to generate sufficient power, he said a new power project would be launched in the State every year. He claimed that in the last 37 years not even a single power project in the State was launched whereas during his present tenure the first unit of Deen Bandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant at Yamunanagar was completed in a record period of 27 months. The second unit would be commissioned in February 2008, he added.

Mr. Hooda said developmental works in rural as well as urban areas were being carried out speedily and the Government had taken several decisions for the welfare of the people during its tenure of 31 months so far.

Urban Development, Labour and Employment Minister A. C. Chaudhary thanked Mr. Hooda for waiving off the house tax and chulha tax and said this was a Diwali gift for the people of Haryana.

Ambala MLA Venod Sharma said the Hooda Government had implemented several development schemes for all sections of society.
