Militants attack Ministers’ homes

IMPHAL: For the second time in a week militants of the Kangleipak Communist Party (Military Council) attacked the residences of the Social Welfare Minister Nameirakpam Loken and the Social Welfare Department Director Achom Nabachandra with grenades on Friday night. The security guards deployed at the residences retaliated by opening fire. There was a heavy exchange of fire in the crowded localities. However no one was injured. A press release by the KCP (MC) said that several candidates had been appointed through bribery as supervisors and demanded disclosure of the corruption. However, the Minister had clarified that there was no corruption and that the appointment was done above the Board.
