40 p.c. posts for those who display leadership qualities Youth warned against falling prey to ‘pub culture’ HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday promised that 40 per cent of all positions in the party would be given to youth who displayed leadership qualities and who were with the common man. Mr. Naidu was not specific whether the promise would be implemented at the time of allocation of party tickets in the 2009 elections, but said it was only indicative of the emphasis the party laid on developing youth leadership. In his hour-long address to members of the Telugu Nadu Students Federation, he reminded them to draw inspiration from Indian culture and tradition and the emphasis on family values. Countries like the United States of America may be richer economically, but as far as family values and tradition was concerned, they were poorer compared to India where there was still a strong family value orientation. Mr. Naidu warned the youth against falling prey to the ‘clubs and pubs’ culture. He asked them to make use of opportunities available in education and employment and use the education they gained to work for the common man and alleviate the suffering of the poorer sections. C. Narsi Reddy, president of TNSF spoke. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
