Delegation makes presentation in Dubai Poised to offer consultancy services KOCHI: A Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) delegation has made a presentation showcasing the strengths of CIAL at the Global World Class Airports Conference in Dubai. The delegation, led by CIAL Managing Director Shriram Bharath, also detailed the future plans including setting up of an airport city capitalising on the strengths of the State as a sought after tourist destination and employment generation. The participants at the conference evinced interest in CIAL as it is the first greenfield airport set up on a public-private partnership model in the country, a company press release said. CIAL has prepared a master plan for the establishment of an aircraft maintenance, repair and overall facility (MRO), an aviation academy, star/budget hotels, an 18-hole golf course, convention/exhibition centre, logistics centre, amusement park, cultural village and the like. The company has also earmarked a sizeable part of the land for developing an advanced information technology park to support IT/ITES services and to provide the necessary amenities/facilities matching international standards on a cost effective platform. CIAL also showcased its strength in the area of airport development and consultancy in offering to set up cost-effective airports to the delegates. The cost-effective airport development model successfully implemented by Cochin International Airport generated interest among many delegates. Some of the countries that have sought the assistance of CIAL are the Republic of Ghana, Republic of Papua New Guinea, and certain Latin American countries. With this, CIAL is poised to offer consultancy in the fields of airport development and operations to different countries and players in the aviation infrastructure industry and to help set up greenfield airports both in India and abroad. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
