Barreto stars in Bagan’s win

KOLKATA: Mohun Bagan beat holder East Bengal 2-0 in the Sahara Calcutta Football League on Tuesday. Two goals in the second session by Brazilian striker Jose Barreto helped Bagan ensure full three points, which took it five points clear of the defending champion to top of the league table.

The two goals also helped Barreto gain the sole lead in the top scorers’ list with 14 goals to his credit.

In the match held at the Salt Lake Stadium, Bagan, which beat East Bengal 4-3 in the first round, repeated the form against its rival and continued to remain undefeated after 12 rounds of action. — Principal Correspondent
