It is for students belonging to backward and most backward classes NAMAKKAL: Deputy Speaker of State Assembly V.P. Duraisamy declared open a hostel constructed for the students belonging to backward class and most backward class at Vaiyappamalai village in Mallasamudram block here on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Duraisamy said that he would initiate steps to allot funds from his constituency development fund for constructing an additional building in the Government Higher Secondary School in the village. He asked the education department to allot land for the construction of the building. He distributed uniforms to 50 students who were admitted in the hostel. District Backward Class Welfare Officer R. Maheshwaran and Tiruchengode Revenue Divisional Officer R. Rajendran were present. DistributionEarlier, Mr. Durasamy distributed free colour televisions to 1,592 beneficiaries at Maraparai and Munjanur panchayats. The State government distributed 10,720 free colour televisions worth Rs. 3.21 crore in the Sankagiri assembly constituency and 13,912 televisions in Tiruchengode segment till date, he said.
