HYDERABAD: A local court here on Friday held a housewife Shailaja guilty in the sensational murder of financier Prabhakar, committed four years ago in her flat at S.R. Nagar. The quantum of sentence would be announced on November 12 by the Metropolitan Sessions Judge of Nampally Criminal Courts. The convict was taken into custody and sent to jail. The murder case in which the housewife allegedly cut the victim’s body into pieces and hid the body parts came to light on June 28, 2003. She befriended Prabhakar seeking Rs. 2 lakh loan and allegedly murdered him accusing him of attempting to exploit her when he came to her flat alone to hand over Rs. 1.4 lakh. Prabhakar came to her flat on the evening of June 25. After collecting the money Shailaja sedated him by offering water laced with acetone. For the next three days, she went on administering acetone. Finally on June 28 morning after learning that Prabhakar’s family members registered case of man missing, she smothered him to death and cut his body into pieces. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
