The Hindu – Young World Quiz to begin on November 14

COIMBATORE: The count down is on for The Hindu-Young World Quiz ’07 to be held at C.I.T. Auditorium, Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Peelamedu, Coimbatore - 641014 here on November 14.

The competition will get under way at 2 p.m. with a written preliminary round to select six teams for the second and final round.

The team that wins the first-prize will be eligible to participate in the grand All-India Final at 2 p.m. on December 3, 2007 at Kamaraj Arangam, 574-A, Anna Salai, Teynampet, Chennai - 600006.

The quiz is open to students from Standards 6 to 9.

A school can send a maximum of three two-member teams.

Schools should fill and send the entry cards that have been sent to them to the local office of The Hindu within the specified dates. For the regional winners, the first, second and third prizes will respectively be Rs. 8,000, Rs. 6,000 and Rs. 4,000. The prize money for the national winners will be double the regional prize. There will be several other prizes in cash and kind at the regional and national levels for participants and audience.

Amity University is the national title-sponsor for the competition.

Tara Talcum powder and Lotte BooProo are the associate sponsors.

The other sponsors at the national level are GM Pens, Penguin, Encyclopaedia Britannica, State Bank of Travancore, Cycle Brand Agarbathis, Vizag Steel Plant, Tourism Malaysia, and Extramarks.com. Dabur-Real Mango is the beverage sponsor. The event managers are Quizwalahs.

The cover containing the details and the entry forms of the Quiz has already been despatched to the principals of all the schools well in advance.
