Militants, Army personnel killed in encounter

Pattan: Five militants and four Army personnel, including an officer, were killed in one of the most fierce gunbattles between militants and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir this year, which lasted four days.

The militants, foreign nationals affiliated to the Lashker-e-Taiba, were killed in the encounter at Sadpora Mohalla in this town along the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad National Highway, Commander 10 Sector Rashtriya Rifles, Brigadier K.A. Muthana, told reporters here. — PTI
