TRS demands MSP for sugarcane

Staff Reporter

Sangareddy: Telangana Rastra Samithi legislators today warned the State Government of direct action if a minimum support price of Rs. 1,500 per quintal of sugarcane is not announced before the commencement of the crushing season. TRS organised dharnas in front of all the three major sugar mills, in Fasalwadi, Zaheerbad and Medak, demanding better price for the cane. Siddipet legislator T.Harish Rao wanted the mill to pay arrears of Rs. 13.5 crore which it owed to the sugarcane farmers .

Alleging regional bias, Harish Rao demanded higher MSP for cotton and sugarcane cane.
