Tackling crisis: The Mysore City Corporation’s emergency task force, Dhanush. MYSORE: Ushering in a change that is long over due, the Mysore City Corporation (MCC) has launched a 24x7 emergency task force Dhanush that is expected to be at the beck and call of the citizens. If confronted by a serious crisis during floods, fire or to get any civic issue redressed, the public may dial the control room 1913 and seek the services of Dhanush. The task force comprising a team of six personnel has been provided with a vehicle fitted with equipments to deal with emergencies to tackle situations arising out of a tree fall, wall collapse, flash flood etc and has been provided with an electrical saw, drilling machines, water pump, motor etc that will come in handy to deal with sudden disaster that may strike in the city. At present, the corporation has introduced one crack team and more such teams will be constituted in due course to handle any emergency situation. ServicesFor a city that is bracing up for change, the introduction of the task force is reckoned to be a step in the right direction and is expected to step up the pace of restoring services like flushing a clogged drainage, removing a fallen tree on the roads or rescuing people trapped under building debris. Also in the offing, uniforms to all MCC staff in a bid to give them a new identity and remind them of their duty towards the public and enhance their efficiency and discipline level.
