Paswan for CBI probe into murder

PATNA: Union Steel Minister and Lok Jan Shakti Party (LJP) president Ram Vilas Paswan on Sunday demanded a CBI probe into the murder of Additional Public Prosecutor Ram Naresh Sharma in Begusarai last week. He alleged that there was a conspiracy to implicate his party MP Suraj Bhan Singh in the murder. Mr. Paswan said that he had spoken to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and sought an impartial enquiry by an independent agency such as the CBI. Local leaders in Begusarai were targeting him for political reasons. The party would launch an agitation if Mr. Singh was hounded.

He maintained that Mr. Singh had nothing to do with the murder and his name was included in the FIR under pressure from local rivals.
