Going places with mimicry out of the box

Whether it is leading lights of the silver screen or happening politicians, he comes out with voices that are sure to leave one admiring his mimicking traits.

Bhavari Ravi, the mimicry artiste on television is going places these days.

A regular feature for shows compiled for special occasions by different channels, he won appreciation for his full-throttle comedy in the highway comedy show ‘Reverse Gear’ telecast on Maa TV.

The voice artiste, who comfortably picks up voices of anyone and everyone he comes across, is particularly recognised for mimicking NTR, Nagarjuna, N. Chandrababu Naidu and now Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

It was in fact, his mimicking the present Chief Minister had the audiences in peals of laughter in Mauritius where he took part in a show organised by Reacon International as part of ‘Andhraites A Get-Together’.

His appearances on the telly included serials and shows such as ‘Mana Mahaneeyulu’, ‘Kitakitalu’ and ‘Manchirojulu’ and he did evoke enough laughs on the big screen with appearances in movies such as ‘Anukshanam’, ‘Chilipi Chinnolu’ and ‘Ice Cream’. “Few more initiatives are lined up for the small screen. Soon the viewers can be assured of a hearty laughter,” promises Ravi.

As kids across the State prepare to celebrate Children’s Day, it’s apt to raise questions on whether the local channels have anything for the children.

Actually, there is not much of content, either in the form of education or entertainment that the Telugu channels have come out with.

Busy churning out entertainment for grown-ups, there appears to be little thought that goes into dishing out what could or should suit the taste and needs of the young viewers.
