PREVENTIVE ACTION: Police stopping MDMK general secretary Vaiko and Tamil Nationalist Movement leader Nedumaran from taking out a rally to pay homage to Thamilchelvan in Chennai on Monday. CHENNAI: The Chennai Police on Monday arrested Vaiko, general secretary, Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and Pazha Nedumaran of Tamil Nationalist Movement when they tried to take out a procession to pay homage to Thamilchelvan, Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam’s ‘Political Division’ chief. Mr. Vaiko and Mr. Nedumaran along with the party cadres raised slogans in support of the banned LTTE. Cases were registered against the leaders under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and under sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 143 (punishment) of IPC.
