BANGALORE: The Karnataka Cabinet on Tuesday decided to hold a floor test for the Yeddyurappa-led government on November 19. This was in response to Governor Rameshwar Thakur’s direction that the government prove its majority on the floor of the legislature within eight days of the swearing-in of the new Ministry. V.S. Acharya, one of the four Ministers sworn in, said 18 JD (S) Ministers would take oath soon. JD(S) upsetThe JD(S) is already upset over some decisions taken by the new government.
JD(S) leader and former Chief Minister, H.D. Kumaraswamy, told The Hindu that the party was not happy with some policy decisions of the new government and the reshuffle of senior officers. “I have nothing to say over the appointment of a Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister. But what about other major appointments? The JD(S) has told the BJP that all major appointments and promotions should be done in consultation with it. Let the government first prove its majority on the floor of the legislature.” © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
