Tradition of celebrating puja began in Bengal

Hyderabad: The Milan Sangha organisation of Lothkunta, Secunderabad, will celebrate Sree Sree Jagadhatri Puja/Jagadamba Puja at Lothkunta locality, at Shubhasree Gardens, beside Railway Bridge from November 16 to 19.

Navami is the main day of the festival and it will be celebrated on November 19. Cultural activities like bhajan, Dandia, musical programmes, classical dance, Dhunuchi dance (traditional Bengali dance performed in religious festivals) etc, will also be organised.

The tradition of celebrating the Jagadhatri Puja began in Chandannagar in West Bengal which was then under French rule around 1750. It became a major socio-cultural and traditional event in that region.
