THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau authorities have registered a case against two revenue officials and two others in connection with an alleged fraudulent land deal at Sivapuram village of Kannur district. According to a release received from the bureau here on Thursday, the two revenue officials against whom a case has been registered are the former village officer of Sivapuram N. Sreedharan and the former revenue special inspector of Vadakara A.E. Madhavan Namboodiri, while the two others were Benny Abraham of Kasaragod district and Basurendra Babu of Alappuzha. The release said the case related to the transaction of land owned by P.K. Moidu of Polapparambayil of Sivapuram village. This land with an area of 138.4 acres was actually leased to Chacko Kuruvila for 99 years. But the four accused had allegedly forged 27 documents linked to the land and carried out had transactions by faking it to be the property of the Devaswom board, the release said. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
