National women’s festival from Nov. 20

Madurai: The 33rd National Women’s Festival — group II, will be organised by SDAT at MGR Race Course stadium, Madurai from Nov. 20 to 23.

Athletics, volleyball, handball and kabaddi will form group-II. Seventeen States have confirmed entries so far. The draw will be held on November 19.

Chess tournament

Chanakya Chess Academy will organise a chess tournament for boys and girls from Madurai and neighbouring districts on Nov. 25 at Madurai. Call B.R. Thulasiraman, ph: 99400 94719.

Weightlifting meet

Hercules V.S.M. Rajaram’s Birth Centenary 47th Tamil Nadu State weightlifting championship for men and the 12th women’s championship will be organised by MDWLA at Sourashtra HSS, Madurai on Nov. 25 and 26.

Swimming meet

The Hindu non-medallist swimming meet for schools and clubs, in Tamil Nadu from all the districts except Chennai, will be organised by the Tuticorin District Aquatic Association, Tuticorin on Nov. 25.

On November 24, the Sterlite-sponsored swimming meet for Tuticorin and Tirunelveli District Schools for TDAA Trophy will be held at the same venue.

T20 cricket

A district-level Twenty-20 cricket tournament will be organised by Freak Sports at Madurai during first week of December. Entries close on Nov. 27. Contact R. Mohanraj, ph: 98430 99396.
