Day of drawn matches

BANGALORE: Drawn matches were the order of the day at the football stadium here on Friday. While the ‘A’ Division encounter between Nationals and BUFC remained goalless the Super division action saw Postal and CIL sharing two goals and points.

CIL got its equaliser in the third minute of injury time (93rd) through goalkeeper Ravindra who converted a penalty after rival custodian Selvaraj brought down a player inside the box. Postal had gone into the lead in the 53rd minute of play through Einstein.

At the 5151 Army Base workshop grounds, Mico topped zone I with 23 points from nine matches. Mico drubbed Hindu Socials 4-1 with Anthony (fifth), Kapil Kumar (14th), Abdul (34th) and Arun (58th) getting the goals. Ramachandra netted for Hindu Socials in the 27th minute.

MRPL beats BRPL

Host Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. beat BRPL in the ongoing Petroleum Sports Control Board volleyball tournament at the MRPL School ground at Kuthethur in Mangalore on Friday. MRPL beat BRPL 19-25, 25-7, 25-11, 25-16 in their league fixture. In the matches played on Thursday, ONGC beat OIL 25-17, 25-20, 25-14 while BPCL thrashed BRPL 25-5, 25-2, 25-3.
