Camp for Kolkata Tigers

KOLKATA: The rebel Indian Cricket League’s East India representative, Kolkata Tigers, began its weeklong camp at the CC&FC ground on Friday on a quiet note. After the day’s work, coach Daryll Cullinan, assistant coach Pranab Roy and team members Lance Klusener and Upul Chandana felt the new concept would help world cricket.

South African Cullinan admitted that this was the biggest assignment of his life. He said he had very limited time to mould this team into a winning combination but nevertheless would try and bring out the best out of the each individual.

When asked what kind of motivation will spur his players, he said playing well itself was a great motivation for his players. He also wondered why there was such a hue and cry about players joining ICL. He stressed that this would provide another platform for cricket players to showcase their talent.

Klusener, the hard-hitting left-hander, did not agree that he would have made an impact playing for his country in the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup hosted in South Africa. “I am not sure how much difference I would have made for South Africa but certainly I would have enjoyed playing this format of the game,” he said. Sporting a mean and lean look, Klusener said he was looking forward to playing under coach Cullinan.
