MACHILIPATNAM: Summary revision of electoral rolls in the district would begin on November 19 as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, district Collector Navin Mittal announced on Friday. The process would continue till December 3. He said at a press conference that special campaign would be taken up on November 25 and December 2. Those who complete 18 years of age by January 1, 2008, could enrol their names in the electoral rolls. Those who had already enrolled their names but had complaints pertaining to wrong spelling of name, wrong address or those who shifted to other places could also apply. Disposal of claims and objections would be done from December 4, 2007, to January 3, 2008, and the final roll for 2008 would be published by January 10. As on date, the district had 29,40,900 voters ( 10,54,400 men and 14,87,176 women). The highest number of voters were enrolled in Kankipadu Assembly constituency, which had 3,82,636 voters, while the lowest number of voters were in Avanigadda constituency where only 1,15,803 voters were enrolled. Job schemeMr. Mittal said at a review meeting that the National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme would be launched in Krishna district on April 1 to provide every poor family work for 100 days.
