Punjab scores 216 for three

CENTURY MAKER: Thilak Naidu carried on the good work of Rahul Dravid, as Karnataka took control against Himachal.

MOHALI: Host Punjab was 216 for three, replying to Hyderabad’s 379 on the second day of the Ranji Trophy Super League match on Friday. Opener Karan Goel made 75, while skipper Pankaj Dharmani was unbeaten on 52. Earlier, left-arm spinner Ankur Thakkar took four wickets for the host.

In Vadodara, Baroda fought against Bengal on Friday. Yusuf Pathan claimed five for 83 as Bengal, resuming at 262 for two, was dismissed for 370. Baroda, with R.K. Solanki unbeaten on 43, was 129 for three at stumps.

In Bangalore, wicketkeeper- batsman Thilak Naidu’s 137-ball 105 enabled Karnataka declare at 452 for nine against Himachal Pradesh. For the visitor, left-arm spinner Vishal Bhatia finished with six for 129. At stumps, Himachal was struggling at 117 for four.

Ravikant Shukla remained unbeaten on 99 (150b, 14x4, 1x6) in Uttar Pradesh’s 298 at Anantapur. Paceman P. Vijay Kumar scalped four. With L.N. Prasad Reddy batting on 88 (223b, 10x4), Andhra was 201 for two at close of the day’s play. ASK Verma scored 61.
