Replacements for Olympic qualifiers

Chennai: The International Hockey Federation has announced replacements for teams which have pulled out of the Olympic qualifiers for various reasons.

In the Chile edition, where India is one of the contestants from March 1 to 9, Mexico comes in place of Egypt, while United States takes Cuba’s place for the Auckland event to be held from February 1 to 9 next year.

The Czech Republic has withdrawn from the qualifier to take place in Japan, but the FIH is yet to find the replacement for it.

In the women’s section, France comes in for Chinese Taipei, while Uruguay steps in for Cuba.—Hockey Correspondent
