Hyderabad takes lead

CASTLED: Himachal Pradesh’s Sangram Singh bowled by Karnataka’s Vinay Kumar in the second innings.

MOHALI: Hyderabad snatched a slender 23-run first innings lead over Punjab on the third day of the Ranji Trophy Super League match here.

At stumps, Hyderabad stretched the lead to 108 after scoring 85 for two with Ravi Teja going strong with an unbeaten 61.

But action was more swift at Bangalore where Karnataka completed an innings-and-126-run win over Himachal Pradesh while at Jaipur Maharashtra scored an eight-wicket win over Rajasthan.

At Vadodara, two big centuries — R.K. Solanki’s 186 and Y.K. Pathan’s 183 — helped host Baroda take a firm grip of the proceedings against Bengal. At stumps, Bengal, trailing by 145 runs, did its cause no good by losing a wicket with just one run on the board.
