Kidnapped press owner dies of stroke

HYDERABAD: The printing press owner, U. Nageswara Rao, who was kidnapped from his house at West Marredpally on Friday, died of a heart stroke after being rescued at Rayalapally village of Gangadhara mandal in Karimnagar district on Sunday night, the police said.

Karimnagar Superintendent of Police, Y. Gangadhar, confirmed that Rao (45) was rescued in a forest at Rayalapally village around 8 p.m., but he died while being shifted to Karimnagar. “We are suspecting that Rao could have died due to cardiac arrest,” he said.

The kidnappers, suspected to be financiers, were trying to recover loans extended to Rao’s brother-in-law, Nagaraju, in Mumbai. Two persons took Rao away in a four-wheeler asking him to disclose the whereabouts of Nagaraju. Nagaraju owes money to financiers in Mumbai and had gone missing two years ago.

Absconding since 2 years

He was also involved in the chit fund and finance business during his stay in Mumbai.

He later started a cloth business and took money from financiers there. As his business ran into losses, Nagaraju could not repay the loan and has been absconding since two years, according to the police.
