MAHABUBNAGAR: Sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) who laid a trap arrested an excise superintendent of Mahabubnagar, D.Ranjeet, and recovered Rs.10 lakh from his possession near Balanagar mandal headquarters on NH 7 in the district on Sunday. According to information reaching the district headquarters, Parusharam Goud, president of the district toddy-tappers association, approached the ACB officials and told them that the excise superintendent of Mahabubnagar had demanded Rs.15 lakh to get the licences of toddy shops at Mahabubnagar, Kodangal and Kosgi towns in the district renewed. According to the plan laid out by the ACB, Parushamram Goud met the excise superintendent and requested him that the amount of Rs.15 lakh would be paid in instalments and the first instalment of Rs.10 lakh would be paid on Sunday. As per the deal, Goud was asked to get the cash of Rs.10 lakh to Balanagar. After taking the cash Ranjeet proceeded towards Hyderabad but after some time a team of ACB officials led by circle inspectors Suryanarayana and Madan Mohan apprehended him near a roadside dhaba (Raikal village) and recovered Rs.10 lakh from the car.
