Shimla: The BJP president Rajnath Singh attacked the UPA Government for not forming a joint parliamentary committee on the issue of nuclear deal and said it was against the interests of our country. Addressing a huge rally in Mandi on Sunday, he said the Government did not consult the biggest opposition party on the issue which “clearly prohibits us to conduct further nuclear tests”. The country made big strides in all spheres of development and even conducted the nuclear tests under the NDA rule despite US pressure. The BJP leader promised a clean and transparent Government if his party was voted back to power in Himachal and said the welfare of people would be our top priority. He claimed that BJP is already ruling independently or with its allies in almost ten states and was the largest party in the country. He said the Congress could not fulfil the promises it had made in its election manifesto and the economically poor State witnessed a record price rise in its tenure. The State leaders Shanta Kumar, Prem Kumar Dhumal and Jai Ram Thakur also addressed the rally. PTI adds: Assailing the Manmohan Singh Government for questioning the existence of Lord Ram, he said it had hurt the sentiments of the people of the country. “Even Mughals in medieval India had not questioned the existence of Lord Ram”, he said. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
