Kakinada: The State Government has formally agreed to transfer non-tribal teachers working in Agency areas of East and West Godavari districts, to plain areas, according to the MLC of Godavari districts’ teachers’ constituency N.Sesha Reddy. In a press release, Sesha Reddy stated a large number of non-tribal teachers had obtained transfer orders in October 2005 but the government did not implement the orders due to various reasons. The non-tribal teachers could thus not move to the plain areas of their choice despite being eligible for the transfer. However, in his reply to the question during the ongoing Assembly session, Tribal Welfare Minister Redya Naik has promised to solve the problem at the earliest after consulting the Minister for School Education. Amendments The Minister said he would look into the amendments required to be made to GO MS No. 3 dated January 10, 2000 to affect the transfers which has been a long-pending demand of the teachers. The MLA stated that the transfers would end the travails of the teacher couples working at different places and those wanting good higher education for their children, which is lacking in the Agency areas. The government should brook no further delay, otherwise it would be antagonising the teachers. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
