Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: Kiran Patel (35), son-in-law of the late former Minister H. Nagappa and the Janata Dal (Secular) MLA for Hanur, Parimala Nagappa, was found dead under suspicious circumstances at his flat near Sanjaynagar on Tuesday.

The police said one of Mr. Patel’s friends dropped him at his house in Boopasandra late on Monday night. His wife opened the door and Mr. Patel went to his room and slept.

When she tried to wake him up around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, he did not respond. He was rushed to a hospital and was declared brought dead, the police said.

Suspecting foul play, Mr. Patel’s father lodged a complaint with the Sanjaynagar police.

After registering a case of unnatural death, the police sent the body to M.S. Ramaiah Hospital for autopsy.

Mr. Patel was in the news when his father-in-law Nagappa was abducted and killed by brigand Veerappan four years ago.

He had interacted with the Government and the police for securing the release of Mr. Nagappa.
